Food storage, where do I start?

I would like to start putting together some emergency food storage. What are some good things to start with?

rice, gallons of water. dry beans stored in varmit proof containers. Dried egg, peanut butter..............have to be stored in a cool dry area.....dehydrated food.  a camp stove a pot, if you store can goods.................buy the longest date and keep them rotated..........matches, propane..........if you going to use wood to cook, keep it high & dry.........a can opener, an emergency medical kit.  Places have a mail order set they they can send you.........kind of expensive...........cracker would have to be vac sealed dated & rotated............a tent would be nice...............blankets or comforters.  clothes sealed in plastic containers.  The list goes on & on.
